Needs Assessment Survey: Person with a TBI, Family Member, and Professional
To provide the best services we can to the TBI community, we first must understand what is working and the challenges it faces. By identifying the community’s needs, gaps, and barriers, we can tailor program efforts accordingly.
This is why we run an ongoing TBI needs assessment. We collect survey data from three groups: Those with lived experience of a TBI, family members/caregivers to those with a TBI, and professionals who work with those with a TBI. This is an opportunity to provide valuable, individualized feedback that can assist in steering TBI service efforts across West Virginia.
Who can participate?
To participate in the study, you must be a resident of West Virginia and at least 18 years of age. You must also belong to one of the following three groups:
- Person who had a traumatic brain injury or concussion in the last 10 years
- Family members to individuals with traumatic brain injury
- Professionals who serve individuals with traumatic brain injury

Public Meetings
We present data, information, and findings from the needs assessment annually during June. This is not only a good opportunity to learn about the results of the assessment, but to let us know your thoughts about them.
Our needs assessments run in three year intervals. After collecting three years of data, we refine the assessment and add other questions based on feedback from the community. The public meetings are a great place to voice your thoughts and let us know what you’d like to see from future needs assessments.
How can I get more information?
